Here's a little of London's History below to whet your appetite for your next UK visit:

As London was the main area for ancient traders, Roman troops decided to burn the whole conurbation to the ground and killed thousands of these traders who had begun to settle there. When the Romans left London it was its downfall, nevertheless London's location was too good
to ignore due to the easy Thames crossing there, and this saw the traders coming back here in
the 7th century.

Centuries later King Henry in order to survive in power needed the support of the local merchants to hold a firm grip to the royal throne. During the medieval times it was becoming a maze of many streets and lanes, most houses were half timbered, or wattle or daub and white washed with lime.

In 1637 Charles I, in his gesture towards the general community to win their sympathy gave Hyde Park to the public, the earliest public one in London's history. Coal-fired stoves and bad sanitation made the air foul and smelly along with raw sewage being dumped into the Thames. The modes of transport were not only on land, but ships and vessels clogged the Thames River and so Britain soon had developed many ports to trade with the world.

Right behind Buckingham Palace, is where the Grosvenor relatives of the monarchy developed Belgrave Square in aristocratic fashion.

For any overseas traveler London is a vastly glamorous and historic municipality well worth a Visit and you have come to the right website if you need to Hire a London Coach from an established company.

More About London

London has a large number of luxurious green areas. Over 200 parks spread around 220 square kilometers. All of the Royal Parks were at the beginning of the 19th Century converted into publicly accessible parks.

Greenwich Park is one of the royal parks in London and is located in the borough of Greenwich in southeast London. In 1997, Greenwich Park and the associated buildings were declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Located on the northern edge of the 73-acre site to the National Maritime Museum is Queen's House, a former royal palace. On a hill in the middle of the park is the Royal Greenwich Observatory. The small square in front of the observatory is adorned by a statue of General James Wolfe.

Hyde Park with Marble Arch and Speakers' Corner, adjacent to Kensington Gardens, has for a long time been known as the "Lungs of London".
Regent's Park in the north of the West End is surrounded by elegant residential buildings that were designed for the Prince Regent.  This park contains the Zoological Gardens (London Zoo). Located in the city center of London are Green Park and St. James's Park

The Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew Gardens) is a vast park with great greenhouses. It is located between Richmond upon Thames and Kew in southwest London, and is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. There are plants to see that are nowhere else to be found in Europe or even in the northern hemisphere. Also there are famous old Victorian greenhouses found in Kew Gardens and large parks with ancient rhododendron plants. On 3 July 2003 the Royal Botanic Gardens were added to the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage sites.

Richmond Park is an area of ten square kilometers approx, and is the largest of the royal parks. It is located in the boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames southwest of London. Originally Richmond Deer Park was the hunting ground of King Edward I., now it is the largest walled park in Europe in an urban area. The main attractions are a herd of 650 elk and deer that have free run of the park, and the Isabella Plantation which is an area with many rare plant species.

In January 2001, the Thames Barrier Park was completed, the park was built by the dams of the Thames Barrier near the old docks. In the outer boroughs of London are still some more extensive garden areas, such as Bushy Park and Hampstead Heath.
