Richmond Park is an area of ten square kilometers, the largest of the royal parks. It is located in the boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames in southwest London. Originally Richmond Deer Park was the hunting ground of King Edward I., now it is the largest walled park in Europe in an urban area. The main attractions are a herd of 650 elk and deer that have free run, and the Isabella Plantation, an area with many rare plant species.
In January 2001, the Thames Barrier Park has been completed, the plant was built at the dams of the Thames (Thames Barrier) on the old docks. In the outer boroughs of London are still some more extensive garden areas, such as Bushy Park and Hampstead Heath.
In London there are 13 professional football clubs, and most are named after the district in which they play their home games. In the Premier League following teams represented are: Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers. In the Football League Championship, the second-highest league, play Crystal Palace, Millwall and West Ham United.
In Wembley, a part of the borough Brent, there was the legendary Wembley Stadium. There were held the finals of the FIFA World Cup 1966 and the Football 1996 European Championships. It was replaced with the official opening in 2007 by a new building. The stadium is the venue for the annual finals of the FA Cup, the biggest turn-based cup competition in English football. The Rugby League Challenge Cup has been held since her 1929 finals in the stadium. Except for special events Wembley was also the venue for regular events, such as greyhound racing or motorcycle racing. Even the wrestling league WWF (now WWE) hosted the 1992 Summer Slam event at Wembley Stadium.
